How to Replace a Hot Tub Pump Seal

Step 4:

Loosen the 8 bolts on the back of the volute bracket as shown.

Step 5:

Remove front end, (Volute).

Step 6:

Mark Diffuser & Bracket to help align them at re-installation.

Step 7:

Loosen 2 screws on Diffuser.

Step 8:

Remove Diffuser.

Step 9:

Remove Eye Seal.

Step 10:

Loosen screws & remove rear end shroud.

Step 11:

Using a 5/8” socket, hold rear bolt in place.

Step 12:

Turn impeller counter-clockwise by hand to loos-en and remove.

Step 13:

Remove spring portion of pump seal assembly.

Step 15:

Pry the seal out with a small flathead screwdriver.

Step 14:

Lubricate impeller shaft with liquid detergent from the kitchen, or silicone lubricant. Install new spring portion of pump seal, flat side down. It should slide com-pletely down the shaft. DO NOT touch the top of the pump seal. This needs to be kept clean.

Step 16:

Lubricate the outside of the disc with a thin coating of RTV silicone. Do not touch the smooth white surface; this must be kept clean

Step 17:

Place the ceramic disc in its seat.

Step 18:

Use the cardboard circle provided to push the disc firmly in its seat. Look on the back side to be sure the disc is evenly seated and completely pushed down.

Step 19:

Thread the impeller back on the shaft by hand.

Step 20:

Use the 5/8” socket to hold the end bolt in place at the same time.

Step 21:

Replace the end shroud.

Step 22:

Replace the eye seal.

Step 23:

Align Diffuser and Bracket marks. (See Step 6)

Step 25:

Replace the volute and 8 mounting screws. This must go on evenly so tighten each nut a little at a time.

Step 26:

Re-install pump into spa.
